Village students attend a class at the Chalk Lanka Boat School, Singra, Natore, Bangladesh. One third of the country floods annually, but extreme floods cover up to two thirds. The country had floods twice in 2007 and 10 million people were affected, 332 schools destroyed and 4,893 schools were damaged. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, 17 percent of the land will be lost to the sea resulting 20 million climate refugees by 2050. Boats themselves are outfitted with solar panels that power computers, lights and medical equipment. Boat school along with other services in the disaster-prone areas, develop people's capacity to adopt the changing climate, and improve the quality of living.
