Bodø Harbour

A large crowd at the docks at Bodø harbor in the winter. A steamboat is anchored in the bay, and several smaller vessels are going between the docks and the ship. Snowy mountains in the background. Sinding is known as a "Lofoten painter" and is said to have "discovered" Lofoten as a subject of art, even though others had painted Lofoten before him. His first journey to Lofoten was in the winter 1881-1882, where he did studies and sketches of the landscape which he took with him back to his atelier in Münich.
