The Révai Testvérek (Révai Brothers) publishing house issued the works of the renowned Hungarian writer and politician József Eötvös in 20 volumes three decades after his death. The publisher’s cloth binding of the series was made at Nándor Gottermayer’s bookbinding shop. When this work of Eötvös was issued, it was already considered a historic document. Despite this, the unknown designer did not create a Historicist cover, but one in accordance with the contemporary era, although the book’s Art Nouveau appearance was restrained. Embossed decoration that at first glance seems simple but is actually quite refined can be seen in a thin, impressed, gilded frame in the upper third of the front cover. The gilded title inscription composed of a unique decoration of boldly designed lettering represents the extravagance of Art Nouveau. The publisher’s mark (Révai Testvérek) can be found in the lower right-hand corner of the cover.
