1951 hardcover edition with color dust jacket of "Misty of Chincoteague" by Marguerite Henry, illustrated by Wesley Dennis and published by Rand McNally & Company. 173 numbered pages; illustrated with black and white drawings throughout with color illustrations on inner boards, frontispiece and centerfold. Book was originally published in 1947 and was honored as a 1948 Newbery Honor Book. Significant for telling the story of Chincoteague ponies.

Jacket has a watercolor landscape with Misty's head occupying the bottom 3/4 and left 2/3 of cover. Pea-green short grass along bottom with a small tree at the top of grass on right with a dark gray-blue sky. A sea bird flies to the right of Misty's face above the tree. Misty is white with blue-gray painted hair detail and a chesnut brown circle around her proper right eye. Her nose has a pinkish wash tint, and her neck continues onto the spine. Title is at the top of jacket in yellow serifed font, "MISTY/ OF CHINCOTEAGUE" and author/ illustrator is at bottom in black serifed font, "By MARGUERITE HENRY ♦ Illustrated by WESLEY DENNIS". Image continues onto spine with 1/2 gray-blue sky at top and Misty's white neck at bottom. Text is in same serifed font as cover and reads in yellow, "MISTY OF CHINCOTEAGUE ♦" and in black "HENRY ● DENNIS" and at bottom "RAND McNALLY". Back jacket cover continues scene from front cover with gray-blue sky and pea-green grass turning into marshland. A white sea-bird flies across the top right corner and a gray boat is sailing in the white water on the lower right edge of the back cover. End pages in both the front and back of book have a stormier blue, yellow, and green sky and a dark green marsh land with Misty (chestnut and white horse) galloping across the scene in the right bottom section. Black and white sea-birds fly throughout the scene. Book cover is a woven-textured cornflower blue with gold embossed serif text reading "MISTY/ OF CHINCOTEAGUE" across the front top and three pinto (cornflower blue with embossed gold spots) horses of increasing size climbing embossed gold grass. The spine reads in same gold embossed serif text, "MISTY OF CHINCOTEAGUE ♦ HENRY ♦ DENNIS" and across the bottom of the spine, "Rand/ McNally". Back cover is same cornflower blue with no gold images or text.
