The United States Open Championship, commonly known as the U.S. Open, is the annual open golf tournament of the United States. The venue for the event changes yearly and the golf courses in the rotation are condsidered the best, and therefore most difficult, in the world. One of these, often used in the present day, is the course at Pebble Beach, California, officially known as "Pebble Beach Golf Links." The course, hugging the rugged coast on the sough side of the Monter ey Peninsula, is also considered one of the most beautiful in the world. As of 2011, the last U.S. Open played at Pebble Beach was 2010.
Nearly all golf courses publish score cards, often listing the difficulty and perhaps a diagram of each particular hole. Pebble Beach publishes this booklet, describing each hole with pictures, diagrams, yardage, and a scoring sheet at the back.
