Surrounding the Hall of Biodiversity, a mixed border of mostly native trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants has been planted, including Sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.), Montpellier maple (Acer monspessulanum L.), Portugal laurel (Prunus lusitanica L.) and Butcher's-boom (Ruscus aculeatus L.), Tree heath (Erica arborea L.) and Royal fern (Woodwardia radicans (L.) Sm.). This multi-stratified border provides refuge for wildlife, and is an important green structure for the Garden's cultivated biodiversity.
