Viewing Notes: As the century progressed the French industry became stronger and the Venetian weaker. The floral vine lost its vigor but gained new refinements in drawing and delicacy. Laces were used in ever increasing quantities and were now draped and gathered, so lightness was required. Up to now laces had been used flat.-From Lace Exhibition, August 3 - November 7, 1982
