While two dogs playfully romp behind him, Abraham, the founder of the Hebrew nation, kneels down to wash the feet of three angels who appear to him at his home. His gesture of humility echoes the actions of Christ when he washed the feet of his apostles, a story honored in the prayer on this page and depicted on the facing page.
