The J. Paul Getty Museum
Los Angeles, United States

In the lower right corner of this border, the Jewish prophet Jeremiah predicts before the King of Judah that ill will befall all the cities of Judah if the people do not obey the law of God. When the other priests and prophets threaten to kill him for his words, Jeremiah explains that if they do, they will be shedding innocent blood, for he was sent by God to speak to them. This scene of judgment taken from the Old Testament faces a similar event from the New Testament, Christ before Caiaphas.
