Bottles of fine make such as this were among the most common votive gifts of the pre-Hispanic world. They have been found both in funerary contexts and inside ceremonial complexes, which constituted the most important places of social and political aggregation in the late formative period (15th-3rd c. BC), besides being the main centers for the production of sumptuary goods.
