Green glaze known as natural glaze runs over the surface of this jar. This effect is achieved by sprinkling firewood ash (maki-no-hai) used as fuel over the jar and allowing it to become vitrified under high temperatures. Hiroshi Tanaka, president of Zentan Bus Co., Ltd. who owned this jar gave it its current name as an allusion to the Nunobiki Waterfall in Kobe.
