Georg Müller-Breslau was a Wrocław landscape painter strongly associated with the Karkonosze Mountains. He started his artistic studies in Wrocław and continued in Berlin. For some time he stayed in the vicinity of Dresden, where he co-founded the landscape school, later renamed the "Elbier" association. Apart from the Karkonosze Mountains, he painted views of the regions of Wrocław, Dresden, Saxon Switzerland and Italy. The presented image shows the edge of a clearing, probably in the Karkonosze Mountains, with a visible forest wall and boulders. The painting belongs to the late stage of the artist's work related to Art Nouveau and symbolism.
