Amphipods mostly live in the sea or freshwaters, while this terrestrial amphipod was discovered from the litter of a subtropical forest in Nantou County, Taiwan. This new genus was named to honor E. L. Bousfield, and the specific name is to remark the Goddess of Phoenix Mountain who protects the villagers and the ecosystem at the type locality. Its adaptation to terrestrial life is fascinating.
