Bowl and cover of celadon glaze with French gilt-bronze mounts. The cover is mounted with a berried foliate finial above a central flower spray within a ribbed border, and a stepped round disc engraved with strapwork and scrolling foliage on a pounced ground. It is secured by a bolt and nut to a plain, grooved disc applied to the underside.
The top rim of the bowl is fitted with a rim of gilt bronze moulded with S-scrolls and acanthus sprays. Scrolling side handles cast with rockwork and C-scrolls terminate at the circular foot below. The foot is supported on elaborate, pierced scroll feet with acanthus leaf pendants between.
The mounts are similar in style to other early mounted pieces in the Collection.
