This is one of the colorful items in our collection of food and beverage boxes. Kerosene stoves were used widely in Turkey from the Ottoman period until the 1970s. Omega Brass Kerosene Stove was a widely preferred kerosene stove brand, which was manufactured specifically for the people in Ottoman Empire and for the Ottoman cuisine.

Its box is the kind that will fit a kerosene stove in. The box is very cute and shows very playful colors.

Depending on the size of the kerosene stove inside the box, it was used for purposes such as cooking at home and boiling the water in a wash copper. People used to buy kerosene and spirits sold in liters to use with kerosene stoves. When lighting the stove for the first time spirit was poured onto the head of the kerosene stove and burned to heat the head. The spirit was also used in spirit stoves thanks to its flammable properties.

This must have been a moment of nostalgia for those who used kerosene stones.
