Krishen Khanna trained as an artist in Lahore and London. He migrated to India during Partition and then worked as a banker in Bombay. In 1949, M.F. Husain invited Khanna to display his works in the Progressive Artists' Group exhibition in Bombay.
Khanna draws on every day, myth and memory for his works. This work is a part of a series depicting children eating fruits and is evocative of the simple pleasures of childhood.
