Most organizations didn't accept members of Japanese ancestry, so the Japantown community created their own groups and activities for their children. The Sacramento Betsuin, or Buddhist church, had an affiliated Boy Scout troop as early as 1904. A second unit, Troop 50, was organized in 1930.
