In front, a sheep lying in profile to the left. Behind the boy, three sheep: one is lying facing the front, with the head on the child's chest; a little behind this ram, the other is lying sideways to the right with his head up; a little further back, another ram in profile stands to the right. Background with barren landscape, to the left, one sees a fence with posts and barbed wire diagonally from the left to the right and from front to back; a line marks the horizon with hills.
