Charles Frederick Hancock had been a partner in the distinguished firm of Hunt and Roskell until opening his own business in 1850. Specialising in high quality, well designed silver and jewellery, the firm exhibitied at the major international exhibitions to much acclaim. While some of the silver was made by the Hancock workshop it is not known who supplied the jewellery which was a major part of the business.
