Bracelette – a rosette for a bracelet

Hallwyl Museum

Hallwyl Museum
Stockholm, Sweden

The appearance of this bracelet rosette is reminiscent of the brooch, and it was mounted on a wide gold bracelet from the Gustaf Möllenborg jewellers. When the rosette became damaged, it was probably removed from the bracelet, which Wilhelmina continued to wear.

Similar pieces – bracelettes – with hooks on the back, would be attached to dresses or to necklaces and bracelets as early as during the Baroque period of the 17th century.
