Bridal Chest

1583

Furniture like this chest often were part of the dowry. The central coats of arms indicate the chest as part of the bridal trousseau of Cordula of Aufseß (1564-1612), who married Christoph of Wiesenthau (1546-1599) in1583. The sculpted architectural articulation and the intarsia suggest production in Upper Franconia.
