Small circular badge featuring coloured illustration of sailing boats on bay. Along top edge printed in brown capitals 'Brighton New Year's Day', along bottom edge in white '1919'. Makers mark is along bottom rim Atkinson Makers Adelaide. Badge, or ‘button’ as they were known, was probably used to raise funds for returned soldiers. The Brighton regatta at the Adelaide seaside suburb was held every New Year's Day from the late 19th century. Events included aquatic sports and sail races.
