This kit for performing ritual circumcisions is made of galalith, an early form of plastic developed at the end of the 19th century. The Hebrew blessings that accompany the ceremony are embossed on the lid of the box. The sides have inscriptions relating to the Biblical commandment to perform circumcision. Gustav Berger pointed out that the galalith was intentionally poured in layers to imitate the look of ivory.
