The protruding side of the bronze square-holed object is well made, while the other side is roughly made, and also the square-hole edge is scraggy. This kind of article has no sharp edge, therefore they are not weapons or tools; instead, they are only part of other articles or independent ornamental. The protruding side might be on the upper side when it had been used. Two pits in Sanxingdui also unearthed a lot of such square-hole articles, however, they have not found in other sites within China. Due to the fact that all of them are excavated in rite related spots, they may be ritual appliances.
