Bronze Zun Fou - Part2

Bronze vessels were first made around 3000 years ago. The production of bronze objects went through two fast-developing period: the Shang Dynasty and from the mid Spring and Autumn to mid Warring States Period. The bronze objects from the Zeng Hou Yi mausoleum are from the second period.

Among these delicate objects, a set of giant Zun Fou (wine vessels) are eye-catching. This set is one of the heaviest among the Pre-Qin wine vessels. They can store 800 kg of wine at one time. To make a gigantic vessel like this, the upper part and the bottom part should be make separately and then cast together. The rings on the vessel were also made separately then welded to the major part. This set of Zun Fou was put in the north tomb chamber with weapons and carriages. It was probably used for celebration after victory.
