Jens-Rüdiger Lorenzen’s jewellery bears a strong affinity to abstract, small-scale sculpture. He succeeds to avoid a purely frontal appeal by emphasising the three-dimensional aspect. The wearer’s movements offer the onlooker a constantly changing perspective of the jewellery piece. Tension is achieved by the contrast between surface and body. Lorenzen deliberately distances himself from the traditional materials of the goldsmith, for him the importance of his jewellery lies in its artistic content, not in the intrinsic value of the material.
