A saxon disc broocch with an upper surface decorated with icised circle and dot design, divided from a narrow border by a single concentric circle, with a second border again separated from the central area by a concentric circle. The outer edge is decorated with punched triangles with the apex pointing inwards. The second circle consists of a ring of 15 concave hollows, each enclosed by two ringlets. The inner area is decorated with five similar hollows and ringlets but the central concavity is enclosed by three ringlets. The brooch possesses on distinctively early feature in the spiral coild of its pin. Its position in the upper part of the well in which it was found indicates a date in the late 5th, early 6th century. This type of brooch is commonly found in saxon cemeteries as one of a pair which would have been worn by women, one on wither shoulder with a string of beads between them.
