Brown hawker

Senckenberg Nature Museum Frankfurt

Senckenberg Nature Museum Frankfurt
Frankfurt am Main, Germany

The darners include our largest native dragonfly species. Dragonflies have populated the earth for more than 300 million years. Their aeronautics are particularly impressive: The four wings can be controlled independent of each other, thus enabling quick and precise flight maneuvers during the hunt for other flying insects. Large dragonflies can reach a speed of more than 40 km/h.
