One of the most popular gliders in history, the BS-1 is one of the first high performance sailplanes. Tragically, designer and builder Bjorn Stender lost his life in a flying accident while test flying the original BS-1 in 1963. Following Stender’s death, the Glasflügel Company took over the BS-1 project, producing 18 aircraft. The BS-1 Glider on display is the ninth production model built.
