Founded in 1925, Knickerbocker Toy Co. of New York City earned a reputation for its Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and various character dolls, including Disney, Sesame Street, and Flintstones characters. In the 1950s, the company introduced its Blo-Bubbles Fish as invented by Norman A. Fisher and Arthur B. Mull. A 1950 Woolworth advertisement touted a "whopping assortment of summer-fun toys at down-to-earth prices," and included the Blow Bubbles Fish. The fish was marketed as "fun for the kiddies."
