618-907

Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum

Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum
Kaohsiung, Taiwan

This statue is made of pottery clay and the ashes of monks. This Buddha image has a nimbus and sits upright under a canopy and on a lotus. The Buddha has a solemn appearance, wide shoulders and thin waist. Flanking the Buddha are Bodhisattvas standing gracefully on lotus stands in tribhanga postures, holding a pearl in one hand and a bottle of purified water in another. The seven Buddha images above the central Buddha figure should be the Seven Buddhas of the Past.
