Joan Busquets i Jané's works are outstanding examples of handicraft. He learned in his family's upholstery and decoration workshop and was one of the carpenters of Catalan Art Nouveau. During his travels, Busquets i Jané became acquainted with international Art Nouveau, such as the Belgian and French styles. He was particularly influenced by the École de Nancy and artists such as Hector Guimard, Louis Majorelle and Henry van de Velde. The darkly stained buffet cupboard looks as if it had grown naturally in its bizarre models. Decorative details, such as the artistic metal fittings and the craftsmanship are in the foreground.
