Senckenberg Nature Museum Frankfurt

Senckenberg Nature Museum Frankfurt
Frankfurt am Main, Germany

The term Buntsandstein (colored sandstone) denotes a sequence of red, yellow and brown sandstone layers that were deposited in Europe 240 million years ago under hot and dry conditions. Due to its wide distribution and its favorable characteristics for processing, it was and still is frequently used as a building material – as was the case in the construction of the Senckenberg Nature Museum in Frankfurt.
