This wall plaque was painted by the French artist B. Sicard, who worked from Wilcock & Co. in the 1880s. The plaque is signed by the artist and stamed "BURMANTOFTS FAIENCE" on the underside. Burmantofts Faience was made by Wilcock & Co. from about 1880. The company merged with four other firms to form the Leeds Fireclay Company in 1889 and stopped making art pottery in 1904.
