Painting of a small, rural cottage, surrounded by trees . A lone male figure walks the path in front of the cottage. In an ornate gilt frame. An inscription on the back reads "Burn's Cottage, Scene of the treaty by Gen. Washington for the site of the National Metropolis - Van Ness Place, Washington, D.C. June 1881." Originally purchased by the Galt family of Washington, DC. The painting probably belonged to Edith (Bolling Galt) Wilson's first husband.
