Crickets, also known as katydids, are known for their loud mating calls, and exhibit impressive mimicry and camouflage, closely resembling leaves. The easiest way to tell a cricket from a grasshopper is by looking at their antennae: cricket antennae often exceed the length of their own bodies, whereas grasshoppers' tend to be shorter and thicker. Members of this family can be found on every continent except Antarctica.
