This work titled in Afrikaans, "Boesman boog en gifpyle" or Bushman bow and poison arrows (1997) by the San artist named /Thaalu Bernardo Rumao (b. 1960). The forward slash before the artist's name is common San language vernacular with the "/" in front of the artists name denoting a low click sound from the indigenous San language. Rumao was part of the Platfontein Art Group, a relocated community of !Xu and Khwe people displaced from Angola during the wars of the 1970s and 1980s. They were resettled at Platfontein near Schmidtsdrift outside Kimberley in South Africa and in the 1990s the community were resettled again at Wildebeest Kuil. The community consists of two San tribes, the !Xun and the Khwe. “The San of Platfontein” is a collective name used for both the !Xun and Khwe.
