  • About the author: Henryk Stattler (1834--1877), a Polish sculptor, son of the Krakow painter Wojciech Stattler. He was a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, and the Academy of St. Luke in Rome. He sculpted busts of historical and contemporary personages. He also designed and executed statues and monuments, as well as religious and allegorical compositions.
