Bust of Boy

National Museums Liverpool

National Museums Liverpool
United Kingdom

Portrait of a young boy of around ten years old, restored on a modern bust.
He has a typical ‘fringe’ hairstyle with the hair, combed deeply and thickly onto the forehead. Individual hairs are depicted in the locks by claw-chiselling, and the locks have a slightly pointed flame-like termination. The eyes are large with the modest indication of lids, the lips are softly modelled. The bust is quite fleshy around the pectorals, a restoration. There is damage to the right cheek and the chin, and part of the nose is missing.
