G.B. Sartori (1775-1858) was Antonio Canova’s stepbrother (the son of Angela Zardo and Francesco Sartori of Crespano). He studied in Padua, then went to Rome with Canova in 1800 to help with the administration of the Studio and public relations. He played an important part in the negotiations with the French in 1815 for the return of the Italian works of art. He completed the Temple in Possagno and had the Gipsoteca built in Canova’s native town (1835).
