It only took five months for sculptor Bernini to create the bust of Louis XIV during his stay in Paris in 1665. The Italian artist had the opportunity to meet the King no fewer than five times to complete the sketches of his model. Subsequently, twelve sitting sessions were required to create the bust itself. Although this portrait is quite realistic, we can observe the little wart at the base of the nose, the King is largely idealized.
