One of the most successful likenesses by Kaendler is the bust of the "Kammer-Courier Junge", known as Baron Schmiedel, who alongside Joseph Fröhlich rose to fame as the second court jester of the Saxon electors in the Augustean period. Here is clad in the uniform of the postmaster-general of Langensalza. Kaendler paid attention to the slightest detail of garments, hair and facial features and succeeded in creating a charcteristic likeness of the jester, whose jokes were all the more effective because of his pensive and melancholy appearance.
