The Gettin' By game, invented by Linda Riddell, allows players to experience the reality of poverty. The game was designed for educators and other professionals who may be unfamiliar with the day-to-day hardships many people face. Not really an economic game, it also focuses on the many choices individuals have to make. From the game's website mission statement: "Gettin’ By changes how people think about and understand poverty, while inspiring them to see their work through a new lens. It catalyzes professionals to discover new ways of working more successfully with those living in poverty."
