At the world fair in Paris in 1900, the gallerist Siegfried Bing set up the Pavilion L' Art Nouveau, consisting of six rooms. The furniture for the dining room was designed by Eugène Gaillard. Next to the cabinet shown here was a sideboard, an extendable table and twelve chairs.
The soft, moving forms that grew out of the nutwood and the brass fittings, which picked up the lines of the wood, impressed the audience.
