These types of mudejar cabinets testify to a decorative style found in the Iberian Peninsula and produced by Moorish craftsmen working under Christian rule, and then later replicated by Christians in accordance with the Muslim models. Bargas, in the region around Toledo, was the main centre of production, giving rise to the name of Bargueño. It is composed of two bodies, with a fitted interior covered by a drop front – decorated with geometrical ivory inlays, painted, shaped and applied to a gilded polychrome surface – placed on a base with drawers.
