Furrowing the waters of the Tagus river or bordering its shores, there were thousands of boats on which the daily life of the populations
depended, whether for transporting people, goods or for fishing. The use of rail and road transport, the emergence of cargo scows and the construction of the Vila Franca de Xira and Tejo bridges would dictate the rapid decline of the vast set of traditional Tagus vessels.
