The slogan "Standard of the World" started with the series of single-cylinder Cadillacs in 1903.
Joining Cadillac in 1904, Henry M. Leland created a revolution by insisting that there be “absolute interchangability of parts.” In 1908 this policy was proven when in Britain three single-cylinder Cadillacs were disassembled, the parts mixed and the cars reassembled and run on a track for 500 miles.
