DecoPac, Inc., of Minnesota began as part of McGlynn Bakeries, which grew its cake-selling business by decorating the cakes in front of customers instead of a back room. The decorating side of the business developed in the 1980s, and by 1987, the company had established relationships and licensing agreements with a number of entertainment companies to feature characters from Disney, Mattel, Dreamworks, Marvel, and others in their cake decorations. This combination cake decoration and toy was developed for DecoPac by the toy-design company known as Alcone.
