Edmund Potter established a calico printworks in Dinting Vale, Glossop, Derbyshire in 1825. They did not make the calico, but were major producers of printed calico products and by the 1860s, were probably the largest calico printers in the world. They designed and created a huge range of different printed fabrics for all sorts of items, not just clothes. Edmund was grandfather of famous children’s author Beatrix Potter.
