Concert of Greek love Sings by Calliope Tsoupaki performed by Egidius Kwartet, Rotterdam philharmonic brass soloists, performed in Zaha Hadid Paviljoen at Holland Festival 2010.
The Greek-Dutch composer Calliope Tsoupaki makes an appearance at this year’s Holland Festival with a programme of Greek love songs. In 2008 she could be seen at the festival with the world première of her St. Luke Passion. Originally Tsoupaki wrote the songs for Greek singer Nena Vanetsanou and piano, before she was commissioned to rewrite them for the Egidius Quartet and Rotterdam philharmonic brass soloists. Especially for this programme she has added a number of compositions based on the love poetry of Greek poet Konstantínos Kaváfis from Alexandria, which will be narrated by poet Ramsey Nasr.
